ABC’s ‘The Art Of…’ explores big topics and ponders life’s big questions through the lens of the arts. Our very own Dr Zara Thompson was honoured to be featured on episode 7 of season 2, talking about how music can shape, maintain and recall memories, alongside the beautiful Rewire Musical Memories Choir.

Dr Zara Thompson spoke with Namila Benson about how music is strongly linked with emotions, which helps with memory formation and recall.

Zara says:

“The Art Of... is one of my favourite programs, and this episode is truly special. It's all about how how the arts can help us shape and access memories - a topic near and dear to my heart, and a huge honour to be featured alongside the incredible Alok Vaid-Menon, Tatana Village Choir, Aretha Brown and Laurie Anderson (to name a few).

This episode has also become the most beautiful tribute to our dear Gwlad, who passed away in October - I am so grateful that her story and songs were able to be shared in such a powerful way 💜

Filming this program was such a special experience - as a choir, we have done media over the years, and you never know how the process will be for our members. Ange Field, Namila Benson and the whole crew did an incredible of making the process super accessible, light and fun for all involved. It was a pleasure to be involved, thank you for making it such a positive experience for our members”
